Democracy in Action, an initiative by Texas Federation of the People Foundation (TXFPF), is a transformative civic engagement program designed to educate, mobilize, and empower communities across Harris and surrounding counties. With a focus on civic literacy, voter participation, and grassroots advocacy, this initiative provides accessible, hands-on learning experiences that help individuals understand government structures, their rights as citizens, and the impact of their voices in shaping policies.
Through community workshops, voter registration drives, interactive town halls, and digital civic engagement tools, Democracy in Action equips residents with the knowledge and skills to actively participate in decision-making processes at local, state, and national levels. By breaking down barriers to civic participation, TXFPF fosters a more informed, engaged, and empowered electorate, ensuring that communities—especially those historically underrepresented—have a seat at the table in shaping their future.
This initiative will bring lasting impact to communities by:
✅ Expanding voter education through real-world examples and interactive learning
✅ Hosting civic engagement events that encourage dialogue between residents and policymakers
✅ Providing nonpartisan resources to help individuals navigate elections, policies, and government processes
✅ Empowering youth and first-time voters to take an active role in democracy
At its core, TXFPF Democracy in Action is about turning knowledge into action, ensuring that every community has the tools and confidence to advocate for meaningful change. Together, we build a stronger, more inclusive democracy.

Democracy thrives when communities are informed, engaged, and empowered—and that’s exactly what TXFPF’s Democracy in Action and Hip-Hop Civic Quest are bringing to Harris County and beyond. Democracy in Action is a hands-on initiative that equips residents with the knowledge and tools needed to participate fully in the civic process. Through voter education workshops, interactive town halls, and real-world learning experiences, this program demystifies government operations, strengthens community voices, and builds a culture of active participation.
