TEXAS FEDERATION OF THE PEOPLE FOUNDATION COLLEGE INTERNSHIP

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Texas Federation of the People Foundation (TXFPF) offers structured academic internship opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students committed to criminal justice reform, civic engagement, and community empowerment. Our internship program provides hands-on experience in nonprofit operations, policy research, community organizing, and advocacy while addressing critical justice and equity issues in Harris County and throughout Texas.


Program Mission

Program Mission: To develop the next generation of civic leaders and criminal justice reform advocates through meaningful engagement with communities most impacted by systemic inequities.


Program Duration:

Flexible terms aligned with academic calendars:

  • Fall Semester: August - December
  • Spring Semester: January - May
  • Summer Term: May - August

Hybrid model - 

TXFPF office (6464 Savoy Dr., Suite 700, Houston, TX 77036) 

and remote work with community-based activities throughout Harris County

Academic credit through university partnership; stipend available based on funding ($500-$1,000 per semester)

  • Direct supervision by Executive Director or designated program staff
  • Weekly one-on-one check-ins
  • Bi-weekly team meetings with all interns
  • Faculty advisor coordination for academic credit requirements

  • Apply theoretical frameworks to real-world social justice challenges
  • Conduct community-based research and data analysis
  • Develop advocacy strategies and policy recommendations
  • Build coalition partnerships and community relationships
  • Create compelling communications for diverse audiences
  • Understand nonprofit organizational management and sustainability
